The Seventh Floor Contract

Chapter 1

The Elevator Refuses

The elevator skipped the seventh floor twice. When the doors finally opened, the man who refused her meeting was already waiting.

He did not introduce himself. He did not smile. He only looked at the folder in her hand and said, "You are late."

"You cancelled the meeting," she replied.

"I wanted to see whether you would still come."

The city glittered behind him through the glass wall. Dubai at sunset looked too expensive to be real.

On the table between them sat a contract with no company logo, no signature line, and one page marked in red.

"If you want my money," he said, "read the last clause first."
